One word that would describe Kira is 'kind'. It may sound cheesy but that's the truth about Kira. He is a very kind person, and his nature is not to fight. It is proved with'in his struggle with the words that haunt him "Kill or be killed". It is exactly Kira's kind nature that makes him naive and a target for pain. But dispite his kindness Kira is not stupid. He is actually a very intelligent person, ranking top in his class in heliopolis. He easily attracts good friends, and is very determind. It was the fact that heliopolis collaped that changed his life forever.

From the start of the series Kira has done whatever it takes to protect his friends, or just to see that no one gets hurt. It is this reason that causes him to battle himself and his best friend Athrun Zala, who are now on different sides of the war. In a way Kira is battling with his past and his present, his old friend, and his new ones. He is torn with pain that has a huge impact in his life.

Due to so much stress and pain Kira as bottled up inside, he needs someone there to help him with all his baggage. He could not have endured so much alone, Kira needed a reason to fight, a reason that justify what he was doing. Kira is an emotional wreck and constantly needs someone to be affectionete towards him. Although he does not ask for this affection it is his kind nature that draws people toward him and help him out.

Kira's does change through the series, with the help of the war. As as it becomes more and more devastating his battle is no longer torn, but he has come to the conclusion that he somehow needs to help end the war. By the end of the series Kira is no longer fighting himself but has gained peace and a new vesion of the world. Kira has become a person that no longer needs to fight against himself but for what he believes in. He is more secure in his beliefs than he ever was.
